Whooo's That Girl?

Who is this girl? She seems so familiar and yet so new. Am I crazy or have you seen her somewhere before? She looks very owl like but truth be told she started out to be more of an ocean/fish goddess. Aphrodite to be exact... born of ocean spray and looking more like these sketches.... I may have to scratch this and start over.... Maybe it is the whole owl obsession that is going around. They are quite beautiful.

This is Gaea. She looks a bit masculine, which I like. She showed up on the page as a coin but came out of the clay entirely different. Hmmm....

Original sketch.

I think it's all great - sculptures and sketches! An owl goddess might be cool - you could make each side of her head pointier like an owl's feathers are and maybe add an owl body...it would make a neat sculpture anyways!

Gaea channeling Pan. lol

And where's Artemis?

Lisa: Thanks for the thoughts. Clearly you are an owl lover! I am timid to jump into the owl realm. They were not on my radar, but seeing them so often has made me really appreciate their beauty.

libby: Ahhhh! It so does look like Pan! Funny because the final version has much softer eyebrows which mute the Pan effect. I may have to just call it Pan and move on! Artemis, like all the gods and goddesses will come when he is ready! Some times I just add the options to my site so that I am forced to think about them when they are ordered! Thanks!

i love the way the sketches are beautiful in their own rite, but the clay had other ideas!

the first piece reminds of LadyHawke awaiting Captain Navarre (a tasty Rutger Hauer) to come and be at her side, but alas, fate had other plans, so she is sad.
i especially like the feathery detail on her brow area.

the second piece is so serene and calm. i don't mind the masculinity, either...almost like a Buddha: it denotes a strength, definitely an earthy trait! ; )

a feast for the eyes, as always!

Beautiful work as always! While on vacation in Colorado I saw some of your Day of the Dead beads in this cute little gift shop in Manitou Springs :)

Gaea - I LOVE these and can't wait to see more photos. The sketches aer bautiful but I like the clay pieces even better! I love the texture on the first one, and she looks more goddess to me than owl.
Don't scratch it and start over -you could send her to me instead :)!

Thanks Cookie! You always have some great reference you well read girl!

jeraluna: I often wish I could go out and visit my girls all over the world! It always surprising to me, where they go.

Anne: Thanks! I will probably keep her and do a little reworking! The difference between a sketch and a clay model can be fun and infuriating! Sometimes it comes out so much better and then other times the spirit of the original is just lost...
