Wow! So this is what it's like....

to see a movie with out kids?! This weekend went by so quickly! Friday was our son's schools yearly "Hoe Down" a fun family event with games and music and food. As we were all really tired, we only stayed long enough to hear the first graders sing "This Land Is Your Land" which was ADORABLE! All with hand motions and everything. That sort of thing just kills me! Then Saturday, Robert AND I were going to see "Sex And The City" together but Robert just wasn't feeling up to leaving the kid for that long and that far away. The closest theater showing was 30 minutes away (out of his comfort zone!) so I went with Joelle and her mom Cheryl. As they are great company and since it was the ultimate chick flick, it was just as well it was just the girls. It's funny, I LOVED the movie and had a great time, but I seriously could have done without the "sex" in the city. I have no problem with nudity and sex but I felt like it was a bit out of place for the tone of the movie. Or maybe a 20 foot buttock is just too much for me! I did love the use of love letters though. Very romantic.

Then Sunday we all went out for breakfast with Jen, Andrew, Noah and Alex. Let's face it, 4 kids under 7 is just not easy in a public place, even with DVD players and toys and books. We will have everyone over at our house next time where screaming, messy children do not garner looks of horror from even the most seasoned of wait staff. We tipped well.

Did you think I forgot about a giveaway? NOT! What is your favorite romantic movie. I have a soft spot for "A Room with a View" (Oh! That kiss!) There may be a treat if you don't trick! What's your fav romantic movie?!

Oh! It's GOTTA BE The Notebook, hands down!
Although back in the 90s I balled my eyes out at Indecent Proposal so that's a close second!
Cute charms!!! I love 'em!

Well, there are a lot of contenders for most romantic....."An Officer and a Gentleman" has always been one of my favorites. For all-time most romantic, though, I have to choose "The Princess Bride".....nothing like a mysterious man in a mask with killer fencing skills to get a girl's romantic juices flowing! It has all the essential elements...humor, romance, a princess in distress, a guy with a sexy spanish accent (Hello! My name is Inigo Montoya...you killed my father...prepare to die!) And the kiss at the beginning of the movie when Wesley's getting ready to go seek his fortune.....(deep sigh) probably my favorite of all times. Man--now I'm gonna have to go watch it again!

This is a tough one, I don't watch much in the way of romantic movies! But I will throw a vote in for the Princess Bride-I loved that movie! I guess I didn't really think of it in the romance catagory. So that brings to mind one of my favorite movies, Practical Magic. Fun to watch, lots happening, and she gets the man of her dreams in the end. I
love happy endings! (That counts as a romance, right?!)
Love that flying heart pendant!!!

Yay for going to a movie w/out the kids! We only get to do that about once a year and I wish it were way more often.

I'm not a big watcher of the romantic movies, but I do totally love You've Got Mail.
Lorelei mentioned The Notebook, and I agree that's a great one! But it made me cry...and that means I normally won't watch it a 2nd time. Just like Titanic. Sooo romantic, but a tear-jerker for me. :)

P.S. Your winged heart bead is awesome! Winged hearts are one of my all time favorite things. (Along w/snowmen and skulls and butterflies.) :)

First thing to pop into my head? The Piano. I love that movie. Holly Hunter just kills me. Anna Paquin, too.

I too am a fan of The Notebook, but recently I watched P.S. I Love You.
Great book & wonderful movie..but who doesn't love a handsome guy with an Irish accent!!!

I like Sleepless in Seattle. However Pretty Woman and An Officer and a Gentlemen aren't far behind. It doesn't hurt that Richard Gere stars in both Pretty Woman and An Officer and a Getlemen. To me, Richard Gere is one of those stars that just gets better looking with age!

For me, it's "Somewhere in Time," with a gorgeous Christopher Reeve and the ever~lovely, Jane Seymour...what could be more romantic than traveling back in time to be with the love of your life, for like, EVER?!
Another one I love, is "Harold & Maude," which I've seen too many times to count ~ The Cat Steven's soundtrack is divine, and suits the unlikely pair and their proclivity for all things funereal!
ADORE THIS PENDANT!

Like Joelle, my favorite would be The Piano, with its haunting melodies and Harvey Keitel's intense sensuality, and the excellent performances by Holly Hunter and the amazing Anna Paquin. It's one of the few videos I've bought to watch again (while beading, of course!)

Great choices! I've not seen the Piano or An Officer and a Gentleman! And it has been too long for another viewing of Harold & Maude! The Princess Bride is one of my all time favorites! I love the parts with Billy Crystal and Carol Kane! Check out the website... http://www.theprincessbridedvd.com/

Just came to your blog via Lorelei's Blog. Gorgeous stuff!

I have to agree with loni v. and gaea... Princess Bride, hands down. Though the more recent Stardust is creeping its way to the top:)

Thanks, Summer! I started to watch Stardust but the kids were bouncing around so I put it away for later... Now I'll have to give it another whirl! Thanks for stopping by!

I agree, the 'sex' in the film was just silly and soooo not needed.

My favorite romantic film (and not just because its french)
Amelie
=)

although, your right lorelei,
The notebook, hands down.

Amelie is my favorite movie of all time! Strangely, it didn't pop to my mind as a romance, even though it is! The way she fixes up the shop counter girl with the ex boyfriend! Genius! LOVE your pendants by the way!
