If you live in California and have children of school age, you may be aware that there is a HUGE budget crisis for our public schools. Our tiny community of Ojai has had a declining enrollment over the last several years and we may be forced to close schools. The problem with this is the open schools will have to take on extra students which will mean a greater student to teacher ratio and less attention to the individual. From what I saw at the town hall meeting last week they will be forced to cut many other important programs like hot lunches, P.E., busses, and most hugely schools! I am hopeful that we will not have to make such cuts and that everyone will pitch in and help. If you can donate, it would be greatly appreciated http://www.ojaief.org/
We as parents had many questions one big one was "What about the lottery money?" Well... fancy we should ask... turns out it was a bait and switch by the state! You can have lottery money but we are taking away these fund over here... A total sham! What next?!

I finally got the time to check out the blog.....nice to be in the loop! :) After our conversation on Monday, I'm not too surprised to see the title of this topic--guess I kinda poked the hornet's nest, huh? You're being very proactive...I certainly hope you can dredge up enough support from local families to prevent drastic measures on the part of the school board, but I guess only time will tell. Don't forget my offer of moral/mental support if you decide to go the virtual school route---I was quite sincere! :) I look forward to reading more posts in the future--not only are you an amazing artist, but you also have a hilarious way with words. Very entertaining!

I know what you're saying...it pretty much means that you have to revamp your whole schedule, but after the first two weeks, you'll wonder how you ever thought it would be a big deal. Of course, I imagine you're quite a bit busier than I am, what with having a toddler and a thriving business to manage simultaneously! I'm betting you'd do very well...obviously you know how to prioritize! :)
